Q: Is Every Stop Public Property?
A: No, not every stop is a public place! The houses on these tours are privately-owned property, so please be mindful of this! It is okay to briefly stop on this tour at these homes, but do not go onto or photograph/record the property.
Q: Do I Have To Physically Walk The Route?
A: Not at all! These tours have been adapted to be experienced physically or digitally, and self-guided either way. If you plan on touring in person, please park at the Sandwich Public Library and go inside to scan the QR code to access the tour if you do not have it already. Then select which tour you would like to follow and listen to the audio and/or read the descriptions at each stop as you walk. If you would like to digitally tour, you can email salib@ocln.org for the QR code if you do not have it already. Just like with the in-person tour, select which person you would like to experience Civil War life as and follow along with the audio and/or the written version of the tour. Pictures of each stop are included so you get the same experience, but from the comfort of your couch!
Q: Is Every Stop Still The Same?
A: No, not every stop is still the same! Some of these buildings are not what they were in 1861, so it is important to keep in mind that when walking the tour, you may come across something completely different than what it is supposed to be on the trail. For historical purposes, we have kept these locations on the trail and included pictures of what they would have looked similar to in 1861!
