...From Mr. Everett

Welcome! 2020-2021 will be my 25th year as a high school history teacher. I taught 16 years at New Bedford High School and the rest at Sandwich. I really love my job but also have other hobbies. I am interested in everything and love deep conversations. I am a constant reader and love exercise, playing chess and XBox (Civilization and Elder Scrolls Online), and listening to all kinds of music from jazz to funk to blues to hip-hop and world music. Music is always playing during down-times in my classroom!

My wife, Dr. Jessica Meade, is also a high school science teacher at Plymouth South. We have three Bergamasco sheepdogs and yes, they all have natural dreadlocks!

My favorite computer/console games!

Elder Scrolls Online

I currently have 7 main characters (Sorcerer Tank, Magicka Dragonknight, Templar Healer, Dragonknight Tank, Stamina Necromancer, Magicka Sorcerer, Magicka Warden, and Warden Healer). Basically, it's a MMO set in the Skyrim context world of dragons, magic, and warriors. It's cool!

Civilization 6

This is the computer game I've been playing for about 30 years, if you believe it. It's a turn-based strategy game where you have to build a civilization beginning around 4000BCE and make lots of choices about resources, land usage, defense, trade, culture, and more. Super-fun!

My (sometimes really frustrating) summer project!

This summer, I pulled one of my favorite computers out of the basement and brought it back to life. It's a Commodore Amiga 1200 and back in the late 80's/early 90's was one of the most advanced personal computers for it's time. A lot has changed since then, including me forgetting lots of things I once knew well - but the project this summer has been to take it apart, fix the hardware and get the software working again. Finally, just a few days ago (this is late August), I had SUCCESS!
