Graduation Requirements are the set of classes students must take to be eligible for graduation from San Diego Unified School District. They are aligned with A-G requirements to give every student the opportunity to be A-G eligible.
A-G Requirements are the set of classes students must take and earn a C grade or better in, in order to be eligible to apply to the public 4-year Universities in the state of California.
At Madison, counselors do the following to give students the opportunity to be a-g eligible:
Present in 9-11th grade English Classes to assist in students selecting courses available for the following year
Meet 1:1 with students yearly to review their course selections and ensure it aligns with both graduation & A-G Requirements.
In the event a student receives a D in a course and they wish to be A-G eligible, counselors enroll students in either Summer School or the current credit recovery opportunity at Madison. (**Credit Recovery during the year is dependent on space and not always guaranteed. Summer School is the best option for multiple classes**)
Review each students transcript twice a year and keep a record of their progress towards graduation and A-G eligibility.
Individual meetings as needed and/or requested.
