Inclusion is a priority. All students are welcome into our classrooms. Staff members, in collaboration with families, work together to empower student's independence while upholding confidentiality and creating a positive and supportive environment.
As educators in early childhood classrooms, we are helping shape the lives of our youngest learners. Our kindness, gentleness, and caring helps children develop supported toileting mastery. Toileting is a time when a child my feel vulnerable or stressed and we can be there as partners of support by creating a calm, supportive, and positive learning environment. Early Learning, in collaboration with Nursing and Wellness will support schools in partnering with families to guide students in their toileting journey.
New toileting terminology as identified by California State Department of Education (see CA Developmentally Appropriate Toileting Training Toolkit):
Instead of saying POTTY TRAINING or TOILET TRAINING,
Do say POTTY MASTERY, TOILETING INDEPENDENCE or TOILET LEARNING
We don't train our students, we empower them and guide them through the toilet learning process.
