Ms. Takei is from the Seattle area (specifically, Kirkland - yup, as in Costco!) and is an alumnus of the University of Washington (Go Huskies!!).  She moved to San Diego in 1997 and earned her MEd. from National University.  In December of 2018, she earned a Master's in Biology through San Diego Zoo Global and Miami University, Ohio.  She has two sons who went to Challenger. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing the piano and ukulele, listening to music, going to the beach, working out, learning about other cultures, and traveling.
