This week students in PE participated in a disc golf unit that culminated in a competition that took students through a 18 Hole Disc Golf Course on campus. The course was designed by two 9th grade students, Preston Coleman and Cody Jones and covered the entire CHS Athletics area.
Walking into the gym has an updated and cleaner look. Along with construction of new doors, the CHS team removed the trophy cases, added a fresh coat of paint on the walls, and polished the floor.
The trophy cases previously located in the Gym Foyer were removed at the end of the summer for refurbishing. A huge shout out goes to parent volunteer, Melissa Matsumoto for bringing the cases back to life by cleaning and painting them. They are now placed in the office and will be filled over the next few months.
After two years of busted main waterlines and new room construction keeping CHS from using the Gym Lawn, SDUSD Physical Plant Operations funded a new lawn. This area can now be enjoyed by students that want to enjoy lunch, play lawn games, or workout.
With a growing program, the Wrestling Team made a choice to move locations and switch their room. Wrestling Coach Dylan Sweet led the charge to move the Wrestling Room to Room 401 where the CHS Athletics Weight Room was. This switch required student and parent volunteer efforts. Thanks Coach Sweet for removing the weight equipment and constructing the racks for the updated CHS Athletics Weight Room. With the equipment in place, the CHS Football Coach Eduardo "Gonzo" Gonzales and his coaching staff cleaned up and re-painted the space over Fall Break. CHS thanks all students, parents, coaches, and staff that volunteered their time and skills to support the move of Wrestling Room and CHS Athletics Weight Room.
In addition to Open Weight Room, CHS is now offering coordinated and structured workouts with CHS Coaches to get and stay in peak performance.

CHS is excited to inform you that our school has joined San Diego Legion's 501C3 Imagine Rugby program, which aims to introduce flag rugby and promote sportsmanship among students without incurring any cost to the school. As part of this program, we have received equipment and training to teach flag rugby in our PE classes.
In line with our commitment to providing opportunities for our students to learn new skills, we are delighted to invite all our students to participate in Flag Fest, a tournament-style event organized by the San Diego Legion. Flag Fest involves placing our students on teams according to their grades and participating in different game/skill stations.
We are thrilled to let you know that your student has the opportunity to participate in Flag Fest for FREE! Apart from meeting and interacting with players from San Diego Legion, all participants will receive a free ticket to an upcoming Legion game for themselves and a guardian. Additionally, the school with the most sign-ups will receive a prize, which includes a Legion Gift Basket worth over $400 that can be raffled off or gifted, an Elite Legion Train T-shirt for all participants, group tickets for any game of their choice, and an incredible opportunity for their class to run out on the field with the starting players for the national anthem.
We encourage you to register your student for this event and take advantage of this unique opportunity that San Diego Legion has provided. Your child will be able to build teamwork skills, learn new strategies, and develop a love for rugby.
