SCHOOL INFO & SHOUT OUTS
CIF win makes CHS history for Field Hockey
The place to be on Veteran’s Day was at La Jolla High School watching the Div II Field Hockey Championship game between La Jolla Country Day and Clairemont High School. The Stars and Stripes were flying proudly over the field on a gorgeous November day where we honored all of the men and women who have so courageously served our country.
The Lady Chieftains had already made CHS history by winning the league championship and now were attempting to write history one more time by winning their first ever CIF championship.
The Torreys and Chieftains had previously met at La Jolla Country Day in a knock down drag out with the Chieftains coming out on top 1-0, so we knew this was going to be a battle.
There was a huge Clairemont fan base to support the Lady Chieftains and they were not disappointed as JR #3 Alexandra Cullen scored on a short corner to give the Chieftains a 1-0 lead very early in the game. The Chiefs continued to dominate on offense with several more shots on goal creating a fan frenzy. The defense has had a tremendous season with 18 shutouts backed by JR Goalie Gabi Santos who did not disappoint with some incredible blocked shots. The Chieftain’s defense once again kept their competition scoreless, ending the day with a 1-0 win cementing this team in the Clairemont history books.
Final record: 20-2 League Champions Div II CIF Champions
We now say goodbye to 8 incredible seniors, 5 0f whom decided to go out for field hockey in the winter of 2021 when we were in the throes of covid not knowing anything about the sport other than it was a little like soccer with a stick. They have persevered through some difficult times, injuries, punches, chipped teeth and have come out on top. We wish these talented young ladies good luck with their future endeavors. We will miss them tremendously and thank them for the wonderful memories and the incredible ride. We couldn’t be more proud.
SR’s: #2 Regina Ibarra(4 year); #4 Francesca Coretta(2 year); #5 Piper Sierens(4 year); #6 Caylin Barley(1 year); #7 Sena Howell(4 year); #11 Ella Peters(4 year); #14 Addy Daudet(4 year) & #18 Olivia Crase(3 year).
I would also like to thank the coaches for their hard work, time and effort molding this team into League/CIF Champions.

Traffic Updates
Bay Ho Improvements 3 Project
Clairemont HS and Marston MS had some unexpected traffic pattern issues. While we were aware of the Pure Water Project, we were not informed of the Bay Ho project for installing sewer mains and laterals on Clairemont Drive.
The contractor is TC Construction and their project supervisor reports the work is moving faster than expected. That’s good as it moves us quicker from the Clairemont Dr./Ute intersection.
Schedule for the next two weeks:
11/13 through 11/17 - Trenching on Clairemont Dr. northbound through the Balboa intersection. This portion of the job will be night work, so no traffic control during the day.
Pure Water Construction on Clairemont Drive
Construction of Clairemont Drive is slowly approaching Marston and Clairemont High School. Both schools will be more affected from December through March. We are including updates as they are shared with us. You can visit the project website and sign up for project E-Blasts.

Girls Volleyball Season Recap
The 2023 Girls Volleyball season wrapped up on October 20th. We were in a very challenging league this season, which forced these athletes to refine their skills as well as become smarter players. Each level participated in tournaments hosted by Monte Vista High School on separate weekends. Each level walked away with a 2nd place trophy! Probably the highlight of the season was our final home game on October 16th against San Diego High School. San Diego wasn’t in our league this year, but we play each other every season so it was the perfect opponent for this match! The Freshman Team got us going with a 2-0 victory. The JV team won their first set easily, but struggle in the second set so they had to go to a third set. They re-grouped and pulled out a solid 15-7 win. Next up was the Varsity match. We honored our incredible senior athletes and then got to work. We won the first and second sets, but lost the third and fourth so it came down to a final fifth set. It was a battle, but the girls pulled out a win - 17-15. The whole gym erupted in excitement!
The team went to watch some college volleyball at UCSD and Mesa College. We also had numerous team lunches and got to play beach ball volleyball with Circle of Friends. We will miss the contribution of our Seniors, but look forward to seeing how our younger player step up and lead!
Boys Beach Volleyball Recap
The Clairemont Boys Beach Volleyball team celebrated an exceptional season, marked by their impressive performance! Spearheaded by the remarkable leadership of Brady Semanisin and Makoa Miner, the team secured a commendable second-place position in our conference, boasting a triumphant record of 3 wins and only 1 minor setback.
Each day was charged with an electric atmosphere, evident in the intense energy exuded during practices and games, igniting a passion that often had the boys itching to rip their shirts off in sheer excitement. New coaches Lorne and Ross immersed themselves in the team dynamics, fostering camaraderie, refining player skills through engaging drills, and relishing the team's splendid performances on game days.

Some of those absences still need to be called in by a parent/guardian and excused as illness. To clear an attendance, follow the instructions under Reporting an Absence on our CHS Attendance Page.
