Fall Athletics Update

Beach Volleyball (Boys)

Boys Beach is off to a great start. Their remaining team matches are against Coronado, Eastlake, and Kearny. Their goal is to pull off three more victories and win league.

Cross Country
XC started their season up in Irvine at the 42nd Woodbridge XC Classic. The team ran superbly well on a tough, grassy and multiple looping course, coming home with medals and a few personal records! Shout outs to Allison Burden, Kaden Coker and Bryant “Ant” Ross for placing 3rd, 5th, and 5th in their races.

Field Hockey

Field Hockey is crushing their competition with 37 goals scored and not a single goal scored against them. That equals eight shutouts. They are currently ranked #1 in Division 2 and #8 overall in the San Diego Section.

Flag Football (Girls)

Flag Football is a very young team, playing a brand new sport and competing each game. The schedule has been tough so far and the girls are hoping to turn things around in league.

Football

Football has won 3 of the 4 games they expected would be evenly matched. They have progressed with each game and are hoping all their lessons learned will result in a league title.

Tennis (Girls)

Tennis is having quite the season. They have won 11 matches in a row and are ranked 5th in Division 2. They are strong on both the singles and doubles sides. This is a true team effort that they hope will result in a league title and a deep run into CIF.

Volleyball (Girls)

Many successful years in Division 4 led to a bump up to Division 3 and a move up to the Eastern League. The result has been a challenging schedule and not as many wins as the girls would like. They are competing and learning each game, which they hope will mean picking up wins in league.

Water Polo (Boys)

Water Polo, which always plays a tough Division 1 schedule, has had some solid wins. They are currently ranked #10 in Division 1 and #13 in the San Diego Section.

Student Needs New Host Family

One of our AMAZING students arrived recently to San Diego and is in need of a new host family in the Clairemont area so she can continue attending Clairemont High School.

Tia is 16, from Norway and is a very sweet girl. She is “talkative and a social person who loves making other people laugh.” She likes volleyball, boxing and also loves kids and pets.

Please email her Local Coordinator, Gabi, at GabiB.CIEE@gmail.com for more information about hosting this amazing girl or if you know anyone who’d be interested.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

SDUSD Environmental Literacy Taskforce
CHS Representative Needed

The Environmental Literacy Taskforce is a coalition of highly driven student activists from every school in SDUSD. Designed to educate, aid, and elevate every student's environmental activism, ELT provides valuable knowledge and support to its members as they set, execute, and complete a tailored/customized set of goals for their specific school. As a collective objective, the task force aims to create and implement a climate curriculum in our district that will serve students across all grade levels. Through educational workshops, team meetings, and real-life activism, the environmental literacy task force will increase environmental action in each school of SDUSD and empower student activists to push for the change they want to see.

ATTENDANCE REPORTING

Check Attendance

Students and parents/guardians please review PowerSchool regularly to make sure the attendance record is correct. Over the past few weeks we have had many students out due to the flu. Some of those absences still need to be called in by a parent/guardian and excused as illness. To clear an attendance, follow the instructions under Reporting an Absence on our CHS Attendance Page
