CHS Cross Country
XC is a sport that knows no boundaries — literally. For most of us, running is a leisure activity or something we feel we ‘have’ to do in order to stay in shape and better ourselves. Let us be the first to tell you: It’s tough…very tough. It’s not just running, but, rather a lifestyle that brings out the absolute best in the individual and student/athlete.
This year our athletes are in the “building” phase. A program that is chock full of talent and progressing daily. Your Chieftain runner’s are a funny, smart and dedicated bunch. Their goals are clear and open to growth. Self-starting is a key component of our sport and your runner’s are very supportive of one another no matter their acumen and/or grade level.
Our season kicked off with Cluster #1 Thursday, September 28th at Morley Field. The awesome news? All runner’s finished and with significantly more in the tank than they realized. This is the base of what we work on…bringing that potential to life and pushing one another to be positive and moving forward. As for the course, it remains the good ‘ol Morley that most, if not all of you, know and/or remember. Excitement amongst the crowd, fellow competitors, parents and onlookers alike enjoyed afternoon running by students from the Eastern League’s eight schools.
Clairemont’s lead boys for cluster #1 were: 10th grader Nathaniel Powell (18:14), 12th grader Bryant Ross (18:39) and 12th grader Cody Brown (20:13) respectively. Scoring against High Tech High was competitive and we came up just shy (3 points) of a matchup victory!
On the ladies side, your front runners finished as follows: 12th grader Allie Burden (21:46), 11th grader Kayden Coker (21:30), and 12th grader Olivia Barnhill (25:04). This meet was a dual-matchup against High Tech High and San Diego and although our ladies aren’t able to compete point-wise (less than 5 — we need runner’s!), they’re still working hard, showing up and representing Clairemont w/pride!

ATTENDANCE REPORTING

Some of those absences still need to be called in by a parent/guardian and excused as illness. To clear an attendance, follow the instructions under Reporting an Absence on our CHS Attendance Page.
