CHS 9th graders in the Freshmen Foundations Course planned and are hosting a community food drive for the Porchlight Organization. Porchlight helps individuals and families in Clairemont, Serra Mesa, Bay Park, and Kearny Mesa secure access to food.
The canned food drive has been extended until Friday 10/20.
This food drive is also a school-wide competition! The grade level with the most donations will win either donuts or pizza!!! The labeled donation bins are located in the front office. Please consider looking in your pantries and donating any new canned goods like beans, vegetables, or tuna; herbs or condiments, or grains such as oatmeal, rice, pasta, and quinoa.
Thank you Clairemont community in advance for your generosity! We can't wait to celebrate the winning grade level with a donut or pizza party!
CHS Athletic Director Alfie Nowak and Associate Principal Reuben Hoffman are very excited to announce Luis De La Vega (Coach DLV) as Clairemont High School's Head Track & Field Coach.
Coach DLV went to Concordia University Irvine where he earned a degree in Exercise Sports Science. While at Concordia, he competed in both cross country and track and field, running the 400m, 800m, and 400m hurdles.
Coach DLV holds a USATF Level 2 certification in sprints and hurdles. He started coaching 12 years ago at Canyon Crest Academy. He has been part of the coaching team for multiple cross country CIF championships including the 2013 Varsity boys as well as the 2017 and 2019 Varsity girls. In Track he was a coach for the 2019 CIF Track and Field championship boys team, and he coached an individual champion in the 300 hurdles in 2019.

Construction of Clairemont Drive is slowly approaching Marston and Clairemont High School. Both schools will be more affected from December through March. We are including updates as they are shared with us. You can visit the project website and sign up for project E-Blasts.

These open houses provide prospective students with the opportunities to explore our academic offerings, engage with our expert faculty and connect with current Toreros. Each open house will allow students to dive deeper into their areas of interest and get an in-depth look at the unique features of each school.

Cal-SOAP offers free services to help students pursue a postsecondary education, especially students who are low-income or will be first in their families to pursue a college degree. Castle Park High School (in Sweetwater UHSD) would like to invite you and your students to their 8th Annual College and Construction Trades Fair on Saturday, October 14th from 10 am – 12 pm. The event will feature a wide variety of employers in the Building and Construction Trades and Engineering and Architecture industries as well as colleges, apprenticeship programs, and other post-secondary training providers who can equip students with the skills needed to enter these high-wage, high-growth careers.

Our new CHS Wellness Space is open in Room 202. In the space you will meet our new counselor, Mrs. MacMaster. The purpose of the space is to create a safe, inclusive, non-judgemental space for students to connect to resources needed to support their physical and social-emotional health.

Some of those absences still need to be called in by a parent/guardian and excused as illness. To clear an attendance, follow the instructions under Reporting an Absence on our CHS Attendance Page.

They will be sent home for any of the following, and be asked to take a COVID test and follow the San Diego County Health Guidelines.

If a student has any of the symptoms on the list, please keep and isolate your student at home and use Self-Reporting Tool Link to report the illness. Someone from SDUSD illness and COVID follow-up team will contact you directly. They will go over the specific requirements of how long to stay home and COVID testing options.
*If your student has a chronic pre-existing condition that causes these symptoms, your student may come to school if a “Certification of Chronic Medical Condition” form is on file. Available in the CHS Health Office.
* Free COVID home tests are available in the CHS Health Office.
* New permission for this school year is necessary to test at school routinely or if sick in the health office. Use the primary health app.
