Lauren Pym
With a rich career spanning two decades, Lauren Pym has made a significant mark in the world of dance. Specializing in jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary dance, Lauren has excelled as a performer and carved out an identity as a choreographer and dance educator. Lauren’s journey in dance began 20 years ago, and her love for choreography started 10 years into that journey. Her dedication and passion have been recognized with a nomination for the Industry Dance Awards in 2023 for her outstanding jazz routine “Done.” Having trained under the guidance of Stacey Tookey at The Bridge Movement, Lauren has also honed her craft with numerous professionals in the industry. These experiences have shaped Lauren’s approach to dance and choreography. As an educator, Lauren shares her knowledge with students at Level 8 Dance and Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA). She had the privilege of choreographing several of CoSA’s musicals. Her choreography has accumulated numerous awards across various dance competitions, highlighting her ability to create compelling and innovative routines. Most recently, Lauren won the award for Best Choreography of a Play or Musical at the BroadwayWorld San Diego Awards 2024 for her choreography in Ovation Theatre’s production of The Prom. A passionate advocate for mental health, Lauren integrates this important aspect into her teaching philosophy. By fostering a supportive and mindful environment, she encourages dancers to prioritize their well-being alongside their artistic development. Lauren continues to inspire and shape the future of dance through upcoming projects and performances. This is her 3rd year teaching with SDYDF and is excited to continue teaching new students!
