It is IMPORTANT that you are at a district site when you turn on your computer for the first time.

To turn your computer on, press the POWER BUTTON (has a grey dot on it) located on the front right side of the keyboard.

- The first screen you see when you turn your computer on is the SDUSD Computer Use Notice. Click OK.
- Next, you will see a blue screen with the SDUSD logo. Press the SPACEBAR to continue.
- Enter your employee ID number and district password. When you're finished, press ENTER.
NOTE: It may take a few minutes for your desktop to appear the first time you log on to your computer.

Your computer should launch to a familiar looking Desktop. All of your icons and files will be there, but any customizations you made to your last device (such as pinned programs or a custom background) will not carry over.

- To access the start screen, hit the WINDOWS KEY on the keyboard (between Ctrl and Alt), or click on the Windows flag in the lower left-hand corner of the desktop.
- To search for a program, such as Microsoft PowerPoint, go to the Start Screen and click the Search icon in the upper right-hand corner. Type the name of the program you are looking for.

- Go to the Start Screen and click the POWER BUTTON in the upper right-hand corner.
- Select “Shut Down.” Wait for all lights on the device (including the “i” in the word ThinkPad on the keyboard) to go out before closing the lid.
