With over 15 years of teaching experience, including the past four years at Toler Elementary within SDUSD, I am deeply committed to advancing STEAM education at the elementary level. My journey has been marked by a passion for innovative teaching methodologies, particularly in integrating technology to enhance learning experiences.
I have had the privilege to share my insights at various educational forums, notably at the Virginia Children's Engineering Conference, where I've emphasized the importance of early exposure to STEAM concepts. Recently, my focus has expanded to explore the potential of AI in elementary education. Over the past two years, I have successfully integrated tools such as ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly Image Creator, Canva, and SchoolAi into my 2nd grade classroom curriculum.
Through iterative experimentation and hands-on activities, my young students, aged 7 and 8, have developed a foundational understanding of AI and its practical applications. This journey has underscored the transformative impact of AI tools in cultivating critical thinking and creativity from an early age, preparing our students for the challenges of tomorrow's world.
