Adult School

Welcome.

At San Diego Adult School we offer a flexible online and in-person educational experience for students who are seeking a High School Diploma.

We are a no-cost Accelerated Distance Learning // Independent Study program through San Diego Unified School District that currently offers two types of diplomas via online courses. Your instructor is available five days a week during which we offer tutoring, guidance, and a welcoming online and in-person learning environment.

Our students receive free College & Career Transition Support as well as the opportunity to complete one San Diego Community College degree applicable course at no cost. 

Enrollment 

Open enrollment is offered year round at all of our schools.   View our classroom locations here.  Classes are currently being offered online with the option to receive online and in-classroom support.

Program Requirements

Individuals may no longer be enrolled in high school and must be 18 years old. Students who are over 19 years 11 months old may apply to enroll with an age-waiver provided by San Diego College of Continuing Education.  All classes listed are state-supported and free to students.

Diploma Offerings 

Option I Diploma 

To receive a jointly awarded Option 1 Adult Education High School Diploma from the San Diego Unified School District and San Diego Community College Continuing Education Program, students must earn a total of 40 semester credits

Credit earned for previously completed high school classes may be applied to the Option 1 Adult Education High School Diploma. 

Courses/ Credits: 

Option II Diploma

To receive a jointly awarded Option 2 Adult Education High School Diploma from San Diego Unified School District and San Diego Community College Continuing Education Program, a minimum of 24 semester credits must be completed. 

Credit earned for previously completed high school classes may be applied to the Option 2 Adult Education High School Diploma. 

Courses/ Credits: 

Note: Non-remedial college courses may be taken in lieu of high School courses. One 2-unit college course is equivalent to two semesters of high school credit.
