Program Overview
Greetings!
I am here to support students and their families! It's important for me to see students reach academic, social-emotional, and career development goals. I offer one-on-one, group, classroom, and family supports.
Anything students share with me is CONFIDENTIAL, meaning I will keep it between myself and that student, UNLESS:
A student tells me they want to seriously hurt themselves or others
I find out a student is being seriously harmed
A student gives me permission to share
Families and teachers can use my Office Number 619-605-3200 x 3031 or email: rfischel@sandi.net
Counselor Thoughts
Welcome Back!
This is my third year being the full time School Counselor at Hancock! It's fun to see the mix of new and familiar faces the first few weeks of school.
That being said, transitioning from summertime back to school time can be really challenging! I'm here to support as we get used to new routines, new expectations, and new communities (classroom, grade level, etc.).
I was a super shy student, and I remember being really afraid to ask my friends, and especially adults, for help! Remember, we are here for YOU and want to help! I'll be dropping by all the classrooms to say hello and become a friendly face on campus.
School
I'm available at Hancock every school day this year.
Students and families can find me in THE COUNSELING CENTER.

About Me
My name is Rachel Dobbin; you can call me Ms. Rachel. I am originally from Irvine, California, but have been lucky enough to call San Diego home for the past 20-ish years. I graduated from University of San Diego with a BA in Communication Studies, then went on to receive my Masters of Social Work at San Diego State University. After working as a Program Coordinator for the Operation Bigs mentoring program for Military Youth and a School Social Worker in Lemon Grove School District, I completed my Credential in School Counseling with National University.
I've lived and studied in California, Louisiana, Minnesota, Australia, Canada, and Hawaii.
In my free time, I enjoy playing beach volleyball, soccer, riding my bike, hiking, running, and continuing to learn. I also love spending time with my husband, Zac, and two dogs, Teddy and Kona.
