Mr. Moreno 2019/20

Work hard. Persevere. Grow your brain

Welcome to our class page. Use this website to find important information about our class.

My focus is on effort and perseverance. Remember, mistakes are okay! In fact, when you make mistakes, your brain actually grows. Have fun with the math. Keep this in mind as we continue through the school year.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Please use good email etiquette. I check my email throughout the day and will provide you with a response within 24 hours during the week. If I don't respond, then it means I didn't receive your email.

Math-in-Motion

In Math-in-Motion, students extract real-world data and create a Time-vs-Height graph. They create their first graph the old-school way on graph paper, and then they use Desmos, an online graphing application, to create and share their second graph.

During the process, they debate, discuss, and defend their interpretation of the data. Finally, they complete a CER (Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning) write-up, where they defend their "claim." For this particular CER, they were asked to investigate the differences between steep, shallow, upward, and downward slopes, and how that relates to rate-of-ascent/descent.
