Work Permits
During the school year, students must have a 2.0 GPA in order to request a work permit. There are no GPA or attendance requirements for work permits during the summer.
Follow these steps to download and get an official work permit once you get hired.
Print out the Request for Work Permit Form CDE B1-1
The student completes, signs, and dates the "Minor's Information" section
Have your parents/guardians sign their section on the work permit under: "To be filled in and signed by parent or legal guardian"
Take the work permit application to your employer to complete, sign, and date the Employer's section under: "To be filled in and signed by employer"
Bring the completed, signed, and dated application to Mrs. Lemmon in Office I in the Counseling Office before or after school (during summer)
After 24-48 hours, see Mrs. Lemmon in the Counseling Office to pick up your completed work permit (during summer).
Important:
Social security numbers are REQUIRED, not optional
Signatures are required from the student, parent/guardian, AND employer
Photo ID is required when picking up your work permit
Work permits must be renewed each year

SDUSD students can stop by their school of attendance during the summer to have their work permit processed if their school is open for summer school.
Students may also stop by the SDUSD CCTE Office located on:
2441 Cardinal Lane, San Diego, CA 92124 - Building E
The office will be open to process work permits, Monday- Friday from 8:30am- 3:00pm. Closed July 4th.
