Parnership with San Diego College of Continuing Education (Cesar Chavez Campus)
Prepares students to work in healthcare as a certified nurse assistant, also known as a CNA., Certified nurse assistants are employed by care agencies and assisted living facilities and may also provide services in other healthcare facilities.
Requires completion of a classroom based skills component as well as field-based clinical rotations working directly with patients. Classes will take place at the San Diego College of Continuing Education - Cesar Chavez campus located at 1901 Main Street, San Diego, CA 92113 in the Barrio Logan neighborhood with clinical rotations taking place at various facilities

The Pathways to Public Health: Empowering the Next Generation (P2PH-Empower) program at SDSU is a summer initiative for high school students, from various backgrounds in San Diego County. The program helps students explore public health careers, develop leadership skills, and connect with mentors in the field of public health that are dedicated to health equity and social justice. Participants will receive practical tools, guidance, and encouragement to pursue college and career pathways in public health.
Throughout the program, students will be exploring their future science education, medical research and career opportunities in the health sciences field. Students will hear career talks from speakers such as a medical communications manager, osteopathic doctor, and research professor. Students will also participate in a group research article project, clinical case study workshops, and career pathway workshops. The program takes place from January 3rd to February 28th through Zoom, and all class years can apply. Students can choose from two sessions (Session A: 12pm to 3pm PST OR Session B: 3pm to 6pm PST) and the application deadline is Sunday, December 14th.
