Led and organized by Ms. Chase and the Community Schools team, this year’s Community Night celebrated culture, learning, and connection through our Community Schools pillars. After making tamales last year, this year, families and students learned how to make lumpia, a traditional Filipino dish, taught by our very own student, Kalei. As families entered the cafeteria—decorated with Filipino flags—they enjoyed lumpia and sampled traditional Filipino desserts.
The evening reflected our Family and Community Engagement pillar by bringing families, students, and staff together in a welcoming and culturally inclusive space. It also supported Expanded and Enriched Learning Opportunities, as families and students rotated through engaging math, literacy, and wellness activities. The wellness rotation focused on meditation with Jeff from The Meditation Initiative and unplugging from devices with Sebastian from Nature Unplugged.
The night concluded with families taking home their freshly made lumpia and goodie bags, making it a joyful and successful community event.
