COVID-19 TESTING AT SCHOOL

WHEN IS TESTING?

Once weekly during the school day.

Ibarra Elementary: Tuesday (los Martes)

Normal Heights: Wednesdays (los Miercoles)


WHO CAN BE TESTED?

Any student may be tested but you must sign the appropriate forms.

HOW DOES MY CHILD GET TESTED?

You must first OPT IN or OPT OUT through the parent portal. Here is the link to powerschool: OPT-IN FORM. If you OPT-OUT you are finished. If you choose to OPT-IN registration is easy. You only have to register once for weekly testing. You can choose to opt out at any time. Here is the attached link to register for weekly testing: School Testing Link. You may also do this process by paper if that is easier for you. Just ask the office for the paper forms.


WHAT IF I CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT TESTING?

At any point you always have the right to change your mind to test or to not test. Please just inform the school office and your health office. We will let you know next steps.


WILL WE HAVE TO ENROLL EVERY TIME TO BE TESTED?

No. The first time requires the most time. After that your child will automatically be tested once a week. You will be notified of the results.


HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

It is 100% free for our families.


WHO PROVIDES THE TESTING?

Response Lab Partners provides the tests and administers the testing. . They come during our scheduled time and set-up just for our staff and students.


WHY GET TESTED?

This testing is to catch students who may not have symptoms early. In fact we know that most children do not have symptoms. Our staff are also able to test. This is one way we are working to keep everyone safe.


MY CHILD IS SICK OR HAS BEEN AROUND SOMEONE WITH COVID-19. CAN THEY GET TESTED?

If your child is already at school we can test them that day. However you will need to follow-up with a PCR test no matter what. Soon we will be able to do PCR test at school. Until then you may call 2-11 for sites closest to you. You may also check


DO YOU HAVE A PLACE TO RECOMMEND TO GET TESTED:

One of our favorite sites is the Tubman-Chavez Community Center. Testing has been relatively quick and most students receive results before the next morning. The address is as follows:

They are open 10am-5:30pm Sunday through Thursday. They are NOT open on Fridays and Saturdays.
