Friday, May 15th, was the last day of tutoring for this school year. We would like to give a huge thank you to all of our tutors and staff members for the time and dedication they have given after school to support our students. Your hard work and commitment have made a meaningful impact on our school community.

Please also note that this week, May 18th through May 22nd, the library will be open after school for a quiet study hall space for students who would like a place to study and complete work.

Summer Orientation Recruitment

Attention Cardinals! We are looking for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders to join Cardi Crew for Summer Orientation! Cardi Crew members will help welcome incoming 9th graders, support orientation activities, and help our newest Cardinals take their first flight into the nest.

Important dates are July 15th for Phone Call Day, July 28th for Prep Day, and July 29th for Summer Orientation.

If you are interested in being a leader and making a positive impact on our incoming freshmen, please complete the Google Form to show your commitment to being part of the team. We hope to see you this summer. Go Cardinals!

2026 Senior Scholarship Night

Congratulations to all of our Hoover students who were recognized and received scholarships at our Scholarship Night ceremony this past Thursday, May 14th! We are incredibly proud to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our students as they prepare for their next chapter.

This year, our seniors earned an incredible $875,050 in scholarships — an amazing accomplishment that reflects their perseverance, excellence, and bright futures ahead!

Boys Volleyball Playoffs

What an incredible postseason run for our Hoover Boys Volleyball Team! After earning a first-round bye, the Cardinals battled their way through the playoffs with two thrilling victories — defeating San Diego High School 3–2 in the quarterfinals and Central Union 3–2 in the semifinals to advance to the CIFSDS Championship Game.

The team fought hard all season and left it all on the court in the championship match against Point Loma. Although the Cardinals came up short in the final, this playoff run was a true reflection of the determination, resilience, and heart this team showed all year long.

Congratulations to all of our players on a hard-fought season and for your incredible dedication, teamwork, and commitment to representing Hoover with pride. A special thank you as well to all of the supporters, parents, families, friends, and staff who showed up and supported the team every step of the way. Your encouragement and Cardinal spirit made a difference all season long.

We are proud of this team and all they accomplished. Great season, Cardinals!

Zen Zone Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

A huge shoutout to our students, staff, and Zen Zone Executive Team as we celebrate the official launch of our new Zen Zones! This cross-academy collaborative project is the result of incredible creativity, innovation, and student leadership focused on creating spaces that support wellness, mindfulness, and community on our campus.

This project truly came to life through the work of multiple academies and student groups:

AHHC 10th Grade designed the Zen Zone stations.
SABE 12th Grade built the Zen Zone planter boxes.
SABE 9th Grade partnered with the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and Hoover’s Native Biodiversity Corps to select native plants for each station, write plant vignettes, and plant them in the new planter boxes.
MET 9th Grade designed the Zen Zone logos and created the Hoover MIND website.

Special thanks to our participating classes, staff leaders, ASB, and Executive Team members for helping make today’s ribbon cutting such a meaningful event. We can’t wait to see our students enjoy these new spaces all year long!

The Zen Zones are now officially open for classes to visit and for students to attend. We look forward to seeing our community use these spaces to pause, reflect, recharge, and connect.

2026 MET Gala

The MET Academy recently celebrated its seniors at the Senior Gala, where students were honored with graduation cords and stoles and recognized through a student-created video. The event celebrated the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of the Class of 2026.

The Gala also included a raffle for all 9th-12th MET students who finished the year with 10 or fewer absences/tardies. MET is proud to recognize our students who continue to demonstrate readiness by showing up to school on time, staying engaged, and working hard throughout the school year. Students earned anywhere from a $25 gift card to concert tickets.

We look forward to expanding this new attendance celebration into quarterly events next school year!
