These schools include: Barrio Logan College Institute, San Diego; Hilltop High School, Chula Vista; Hoover High School, San Diego; Lincoln High School, San Diego; and Morse High School, San Diego.
The 2024 Program will run from June 24 - August 9, 2024. The application deadline for this summer's program is April 19, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. https://education.scripps.edu/k-12-outreach/ca-outreach/hs-internships/

SHOUT OUTS
Athlete of the Week (4/8-4/12)
Samantha Hoyos
Samantha is a first-year softball player and has been nominated for her hustle and positive attitude. She is currently playing one of the hardest positions on the field as catcher. She is excelling on the field and in the classroom. She is only one of a couple female athletes considered a tri-sport athlete, participating also in Flag football and Soccer.
SABE Juniors Visit Taylor Guitar
Last month some SABE Juniors took a field trip to Taylor Guitars, one of the largest manufacturers of acoustic guitars, located in El Cajon, CA. Each year, students in Mr. Gonzalez's Fine Woodworking course handcraft their own acoustic guitars through wood donated by Taylor Guitars. Through this partnership, students learn about wood reclamation, sustainability, and music history. If you'd like to know more about this project, you can hear from the students themselves when they present their guitars at the CCTE Showcase on Wednesday, May 22nd.
ELD Field Trip to Birch Aquarium
This week, the English Language Development class took a field trip to the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla. We pet the urchins, saw the shark, gazed at the jellyfish, and enjoyed one of the sunniest days in months. This was by far the most relaxing field trip we've ever had. Our ELD students represented Hoover in the best possible way, and we would look to give all of our students a shout out for showing so much gratitude for this off-campus learning experience! Special thanks to Ms. Montes, Mr. Bradford, and Hannah Lobato from the International Rescue Committee for chaperoning, as well as the Price Foundation for funding our tickets!
