SHOUT OUTS
This past weekend, Hoover's Robotics Team, the Red Cards, competed at the FIRST Robotics San Diego Regional. Led by their advisor, Mr. Wetzel, the Red Cards have been working diligently since early January, when they were given six weeks to design, build, and program their robot. This year's challenge, Reefscape, required teams to build robots capable of scoring PVC pipes (called "Coral") and playground balls ("Algae") into goals, as well as climbing structures called "Cages" on a truss known as the "Barge" for additional points. FIRST Robotics is an international competition that encourages high school students to develop skills in engineering, teamwork, and problem-solving through real-world challenges. At the regional event, the Red Cards demonstrated their creativity and technical expertise, navigating the complex tasks of Reefscape with resilience and innovation. Their dedication exemplifies the true spirit of FIRST!
This past week, Mr. Leon had the chance to visit Mr. Gonzalez’s class and see the amazing work our students are doing in woodshop class. Very cool to see our students working on their guitars and the pride they put into their work was evident. This project is part of SABE's collaboration with local guitar company, Taylor Guitars.
