SHOUT OUTS
It’s been a huge week for our band students! Last Tuesday, they performed the national anthem at the Padres game for High School Band Night—representing Hoover on a major league stage. And then, this past weekend, the Hoover Symphonic Band took the stage at the stunning Rady Shell at Jacob’s Park as part of the VAPA District Showcase. This was an incredible opportunity for our students to shine alongside other high school musicians from across the district. The Rady Shell is a world-class venue—easily the nicest stage many of our students have ever played on—and our band absolutely rose to the occasion. We are so proud of their dedication, talent, and the way they represent Hoover.
On Saturday, April 12th, Hoover JROTC hosted the final competition for the district. There were 14 total schools that competed for 10-person Armed Drill Team, 4-preson Armed Drill Team, 10-person Unarmed Drill Team, and 4-person Unarmed Drill Team. Results of the competition will be announced at the District Pass in Review on May 3rd at Kearny High School. Congratulations to all our teams that competed. If you would like to see their performances. Shout our to our Team Commanders for preparing their teams: Jacob Salome, Fabiola Ntakrutimana, and Nafisa Haji.
Saturday School students made a Garden of Kindness poster for students to share their acts of kindness in the world, and the garden is growing! It's located in the library. Thank you for being kind. Keep the garden of kindness growing by writing an act of kindness on a flower and placing it in the garden. You make Hoover and the world a better place!
On April 17, 2025, Ms. Sanchez’s amazing students explored and applied their knowledge of physics—specifically electricity and circuits—by building their own lemon batteries! They investigated how chemical energy transforms into electrical energy, lighting up LEDs and sparking excitement about voltage, current, and conductivity. I am so proud of their curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning. Keep shining, young scientists!
