The Media, Entertainment, and Technology (MET) Academy proudly hosted its Smart Cookie celebration at lunch on Friday, recognizing students who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher through their hard work and dedication. This event highlighted the commitment and perseverance of our scholars, and our academy community is incredibly proud of their achievement and continued growth.
Shoutout to Jayden, Apryl, and Allison for presenting at this week’s Hoover staff meeting, where they shared powerful insights on mental hijacks, how the brain works, and the impact of rigorous teaching on student learning. Their presentation highlighted student voice in a meaningful way and created an opportunity for staff to reflect on classroom practices through a student-centered lens. We are proud of their leadership and the way they presented with confidence and purpose!
Our 9th grade English Ethnic Studies students had the opportunity to learn from the Community Law Project, whose law students led an engaging and interactive presentation on “Know Your Rights,” with a focus on how these rights impact our communities, especially in relation to ICE. The presenters created a meaningful space for students to ask questions, build awareness, and connect real-world knowledge to our classroom learning. We are grateful to these dedicated law students for empowering our youth with information that supports advocacy, confidence, and informed decision-making.
