Any student in San Diego County is invited to submit their poem to the Let Your Voice Be Heard Anthology, which will be published as a digital magazine in late spring of 2023. Note that students need NOT have had a workshop to submit; it is open submission to anyone K - 12.
- Poems must be inspired by the theme "My Community." They may be based on real or imagined experiences.

Lexia unit expectations: Lexia-20 units per week is expected...Please access it through Clever. Use this video for more directions as to how to access Lexia PowerUp. Please keep track of how many units you complete each week in each strand in your planner. Work on one strand per day (Word Study, Grammar, or Comprehension). Here is a video that shows you how you can check the units that you completed by the day or week.
Overview of FAST/PowerUp Reflection -
Write down in your planner three strands- Word Study, Grammar, and Comprehension. Then write if you are foundational, intermediate, or advanced in each.
Write down in your planner your FAST (yellow) score and your approximate Lexile level (pink).

Go into your English folder to find the Symbol Final Draft Template. Type your draft and have it reviewed. Submit your work in Canvas HERE.
After writing your rough draft, having a peer review it, and submitting it to Canvas, ask for approval to mold your Play-Doh into your symbol. BE SURE TO GET YOUR PICTURE WITH YOUR PLAY-DOH SYMBOL!!
HW: If you do not finish your paragraph, complete it and have someone review it before submitting it in Canvas. It should be ready to print on Monday at the start of the period.

Please realize this test is to help ME teach you better. So, please do your best so I can see what we need to work towards.
Another benefit of doing well on this test that it is a way to reclassify yourself if you are a student who takes ALD.
If we see that you struggled with certain sections of the test, we may have you work with a reading specialist to help get you closer to where you need to be.
Please have a pair of headphones for your test. You may borrow a pair from the buckets by the windows. Please return them neatly at the end of the period.
Unfortunately, adults cannot help you or read anything on the test. This is completely independent.
Please take your time. I would expect this test to take the majority of the class time.
