About us

Welcome to the Dana School Counseling Department

Our mission is to support every student’s academic, social, and emotional growth throughout their journey at Dana Middle School.  Our students are entering a critical time for personal development, and we are dedicated to helping students navigate these transformative years with confidence and resilience.

Our counseling program is rooted in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), where we focus on developing key skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Through SEL, we empower students to understand and manage their emotions, set and achieve positive goals, show empathy for others, maintain healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions.

Each month, we introduce a new life skill theme and wellness theme designed to enhance our students’ personal growth and prepare them for future challenges. These themes range from goal-setting and communications skills, to being an upstander and expressing gratitude. Our goal is to equip students with the tools they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

We offer individual and group counseling sessions, classroom SEL lessons, and a variety of programs and workshops tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. We are here to support, guide, and advocate for every student, helping them reach their full potential.

We partner with families, teachers, and the community to create a supportive and nurturing environment where every student can succeed.
