In 2022 San Diego Unified used Title I funds to purchase culturally responsive picture books and chapter books for Title I schools with the goal of students seeing themselves and their communities reflected in the literature in their classrooms.

These texts provide rich opportunities for discussion and teachers may need additional support and resources in order to effectively facilitate conversations around topics they may not have discussed before.

This hub is designed to be a growing repository of resources to support using these texts in the classroom. The resources will continue to grow as we work with teachers to create sample lessons and gather and share supports that they find effective.
