I can use Computer Science to learn about our planet!
CS Teachers model how to learn -- by learning in front of students. Computer Science is a quickly evolving field & experts learn new programming knowledge daily. They don't already know everything, but they know how to figure it out by searching the web, asking others, or guessing and checking.
Goal: A sentence in English (understandable by humans) that describes what you want to happen in your project.
Algorithm: A series of steps combining English and coding words that describe how to reach the goal.
Code: Choosing the Scratch blocks that go along with the algorithm.
Check: Run your program to see if it matches your goal.
Preview the program with TIPP: read the Title, Instructions, and Purpose. Then Play the program and observe closely.
Investigate the program with SEE: See Inside, then find the Sprites, the Events for each sprite, then Explore the code by reading and making changes.
STEP 1: Look at student work in your class Scratch studio and find a few to highlight at the start of class (ideally, students who didn't share the day before).
STEP 2: Go to the web page with the day's lesson. Watch the video and practice filling out the reflection slide.
STEP 3: Open the Scratch link(s) to play and explore! Take on the day's challenges just as students will.
STEP 4: (Optional for those using Google Classroom) Copy and paste the Google Classroom instructions into your Google Classroom along with links to videos so students can rewatch them if they need to.
