2024 Classified Employees of the Year

The journey to my current passion and position has been a wild one. Thirteen years in Sales and Operations in Higher Ed publishing took me around the world and afforded me the pleasure of working with Nobel Laureates and hobnobbing with the world's premier authors. At the height of my career in publishing, our company was purchased, and most American employees were immediately at risk. Instead of waiting for the axe to fall, I pivoted and reached out to a friend, then found my way to a Tech company in New Jersey in need of my creative problem-solving and branding skills. I was hired as Director of Sales Strategy and Marketing. I spent 12 years developing their brand and widening their market exposure, traveling throughout the US and taking the company international.

Once my daughters were in high school, I leapt away from the corporate world and into San Diego Unified. This was a dramatic change for me, and one that was led by my heart. It was imperative that I be there for every game (two of my daughters played six sports each) and every play they participated in. By the time my girls were out of CHS, I saw the impact that I could make with students and committed to staying within my community, throwing myself into creating a culture of warmth and understanding. My door is always open to students and staff alike. I look forward to many more years ahead at Clairemont High School.

I am an avid global wanderer, cannot resist live music, and am the proud mom of three beautiful daughters.

I'm Alfredo Xavier Rios, born and raised right here in San Diego, California. I've been happily married for 15 amazing years and am the proud father of two beautiful daughters. When I'm not spending time with my family, you'll often find me cruising down the highway on my Harley Davidson or passionately rooting for my all-time favorite baseball team, the San Diego Padres. But my interests extend beyond the ordinary – I'm also a skilled tattoo artist, pouring my heart and soul into creating meaningful works of art.

By day, I'm honored to serve as the building services supervisor at Clay Elementary. It's a role I cherish, where I bring my passion and dedication to ensure the smooth operation of our school community. Juggling family, hobbies, and a fulfilling career, I lead a life filled with purpose and excitement. Whether I'm wielding a tattoo machine or overseeing our school's daily operations, my love for creativity shines through. With the unwavering support of my family by my side, I embrace each day as an opportunity to make a difference and find joy in every moment.
