Samantha Tellez - Rubio is thrilled to serve as the Community School Site Coordinator at Cesar Chavez Elementary. With nearly a decade of experience as a bilingual K-6 classroom teacher in Project Based Learning and International Baccalaureate schools, Samantha brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for education. Before teaching, she worked in curriculum development, city government, and marketing.
A proud third-generation Mexican-American and first-generation college graduate, Samantha earned her BA in English and MA in Education from SDSU. She is bilingual in Spanish and has lived and worked in Mexico City, where she taught English as a second language and developed curriculum for a Project Based Learning school.
As a native San Diegan from Chula Vista, Samantha values community and collaboration. She is excited to co-create sustainable systems and resources for Cesar Chavez Elementary while celebrating its rich history and traditions. Outside of work, Samantha enjoys outdoor adventures, cooking, live music, and family time with her husband, Omar, and their active 2-year-old daughter, Camila.
