2023 PrimeTime Summer Program

San Diego Unified School District’s (SDUSD) Extended Learning Opportunities Department is working collaboratively with the PrimeTime Partner Organizations to offer a PrimeTime Summer Program at elementary, UTK-8, and middle level schools offering SDUSD Summer Academic Programs. The PrimeTime Summer Program will provide an engaging environment where students can strengthen their academic skills and participate in fun enrichment activities within the areas of Art, Science, Music and Athletics, while improving social skills. Students who participate in the PrimeTime Summer Program will be offered a free nutritious meal.

VIEW SUMMER PRIMETIME LOCATIONS AND PROGRAM SCHEDULES

All PrimeTime Summer Programs:  Tuesday, June 20 through Wednesday, August 2, 2023 (Closed Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, 4)

 

Student Eligibility and Enrollment:

All currently enrolled SDUSD students during the 2022-23 school year, UTK through eighth grade, attending the SDUSD Summer Academic Program are eligible to apply for the PrimeTime Summer Program.  Applications will be accepted for participation based on the rating system delineated below, with homeless/foster students receiving highest priority consideration. If applications exceed capacity, students may be placed on a waitlist until space becomes available. Students must be attending the SDUSD Summer Academic Program to be eligible to participate in the PrimeTime Summer Program.

 

Initial Application Timeline (Monday, February 6 through Friday, March 3, 2023):

Applications will be available online beginning Monday, February 6, at 8:00 am (Pacific Standard Time) and must be completed and submitted online by Friday, March 3, at 11:59 pm (Pacific Standard Time) to be considered in the initial enrollment process.  Applications will continue to be accepted after this date following the same process below with revised dates.

 

Application Rating System
Completed applications that are submitted by the deadline during the initial application timeline will be reviewed for the initial enrollment period. Children will be accepted for participation based on the application rating system detailed below, up to the capacity for each school's program. Once PrimeTime has reached its capacity, children not accepted for participation will be placed on a wait list, in the same order of priority, and will be accepted as space becomes available. Each application will be prioritized using the following rating system:

Single parent household OR families with one parent/guardian currently

on military deployment (a copy of orders may be required upon request). 1 Point


All parents/guardians living with the child are employed full time 

(40 hours per week) and/or are full time students (enrolled with at least 12 units). 1 Point


Child recommended for academic assistance by the District, based on the 

Standards Based Report Card and/or English Language Learner for elementary

level and course grades for the middle level 1 Point



Child participating in the San Diego Unified School District Free/Reduced Price 1 Point

Meal program, based on data provided by District.


Total Points Possible 4 Points


Eligible homeless and foster care students will receive highest priority for enrollment when applying.

Parent/Guardian Notification of Application Status (on March 24, 2023):

Students with the highest priority accepted into the program will be notified via email of the status of their applications on Friday, March 24.  The email will notify families of whether their child(ren) has been accepted to participate, placed on the wait list, or not eligible. 

 

Accepted Students Registration Process and Timeline (by Friday, April 28, 2023):

Once parent/guardian receives the acceptance notification, they will need to print and complete the 2023 PrimeTime Summer Program Student Participation Forms.  The completed forms will need to be submitted electronically via email by Friday, April 28, to participate in the PrimeTime Summer Program beginning Tuesday, June 20.    Please submit the Student Participation Forms to the PrimeTime Partner Organization providing PrimeTime Summer Program at the school your child is planning to attend this summer.

 

Attendance Policy
In accordance with the California Education Code Section 8483(a) (1) that provides funding for PrimeTime, students are encouraged to participate in the program every day.
