In this assignment I was asked to make a pencil holder with one of this technique
bracket / t slat beside captive nut and use fusion 360 to design that will be fully define and at least consist of 2 parts to assembly the compartments and to fabricate this parts i will use laser cutting technique and if there is bracket i will use 3D printing to fabricate it
when i start looking i lookin google to see design for laser cut pencil holder then i found this design that have 2 levels and drawer and separated into 3 section but because of time i made it without drawer and made it consist of 2 section
fusion 360 : as desgin software i used it to desgin front face that was demand to be 2D and use laser cutter with it also i used it to desgin side arms and make it 3D

i used ply wood 3mm as material
Screwdriver: For use in inserting and fastening screws
nail: i used m 3 screw to make sure parts are attach to each other
nut: use it with screw
the side part
i made it as component by selecting joining then component
i started sketch from side plane then draw a rectangle
after i put the dimension i draw another rectangle in it to cut the outer edge
put filiet 10 mm on the sharp edge by filiet button finish sketch
then draw 4 small rectangle 5.5 mm and between them small circle3 mm for t-slot and capitive nut
do extrude 3 mm by select surface except small 4 rectangle and 2 circle because i want it hollow then extrude icon
after that i made copy / new paste to have the 2 side
in the bottom side
i made it component
start top plane sketch and draw rectangle
draw 4 small rectangle On the edge to be prominent when do extrude
between them i draw t- slot by do 2 rectangle perpendicular on each other depending on the secrew i use i made length of it 12 mm and wide of it 3 mm and nut wide is 5.5 length of it 2.40
do extrude all sketch except t-slot rectangle 3 mm
top side
just as i do in the bottom side but on small scale
face side
select front plane to draw on it a rectangle then draw line and cut it by trim cutting to give it the shape i want
draw 2 small rectangle and circle according to the size of top side by project feature
them extrude all the face except 2 rectangle and small circle
back side
made it as componant
made it as rectangle then do insert componant and do project feature to draw 2 small rectangle and circle
them extrude all the face except 2 rectangle and small circle
assembly stage
after i finshed sketching and made them as component star to insert them together by order insert component
do joint between component
selecting edge of each component or face to made joint together
preparation
i import all this file as dfx on laser cad then start to arrenge it .
then i insert some forms on spacific part such as on side part and face part to decorate it
start to select what has to be cut / speed cut / engrave
then simulation it and see how much time it will take then i export it as DFX
cutting speed 10 / power 65 as black color
speed cut speed 100 / power 50 as blue color
engrave speed 300/ power 50 red color

after i finished frame sketch i export it to cad laser to adjust parameters
i used speed cutting blue color to draw on the wood

Machine parameters : for cutting : speed 10 / power 65
speed cut : speed 100 / power 50

start the machine
i start machine and vacuum
start machine attached cable of machine to laptop and press download button to transvers dfx file to machine
put the plywood and stabilize it
put new origin by origin button
check the space and be sure if laser will work on wood or not by box button
start to cut by start button that color is green
after manufacture finshed i start to assembly parts together
put the side part in bottom and top part and attach them by nuts and screw
then attche the other side to bottom and top
attach face part and back to top part from front and back of it
then attach the separation part to the face by screw

after the fabrication in assembly stage tried to put parts in attache it together the capitave nut It was the same size as the space in there was no space and I entered it . so i asked instructor to help me ( mahmoud) and he told me that i have next time to put in my considration at least clearance 1 -.5 mm and now i can grind the nut to make some space and it worked
