laser cutting face
3d printing arms
For this week's assignment, we will be making a mixed design glasses. Using the knowledge we acquired in week 1, we will be able to make the design on Fusion 360 and fabricate the project using the laser cutter and 3D printer.
The idea came to me from my filed a gear glasses as a mechanical engineer
Laser cutting:-
I drew the face of the glasses according to international measurements and designed it for laser cutting in Fusion and downlaod as DXF.
Steps :
A circle was drawn in the center and a dimension of 40 mm (standard) was set as shown.
Then I drew one of the gear teeth using a line from the create menu.
I used a Circular pattern feature to draw the gear around the middle of the circle.
then the whole shape was copied 17mm far beside it.
For the bridge of the glasses, a 7.25 radius arch was used and was copied upwards again.
Then the hole circles for assembling the arms were drawn and their dimensions determined.
Using Laser cutter software to prepare the shape for manufacturing on the laser machine.
cut ( speed : 30 , power : 65 )
- saved the file as "ai".
-downloaded the file to the machine, and cut it.
3D Printing:-
drew the arms of the glasses according to international measurements and designed them for 3d printing in Fusion and downlaod as stl.
Steps :
The arm middle line was drawn and dimension according to standard.
Using the SpLine feature, the back of the arm was drawn.
I used extrude to make the design 3D.
I used fillet (0.3mm) to make the design not sharp.
-opened it on Cura, and changed the settings.
Resolution : 0.2mm
Infill : 5%
support type : Normal
brim
parameter : 184 mm * 10mm
-saved the file as "sameh-59m-6g-0.2h.gcode'' .
-printed it.
3D Printing:-
1) Put the file on the reader.
2) Choose the file on the printer.
3) Choose ''preheat''.
4) Adjust the filament, as it needs to be pointed -Cut it to 60degrees.
5) Choose "Load filament''.
6) Click "print".
Laser cutter:-
1) Make sure that the file printing is mine.
2) Put plywood sheet.
3) Put the magical tool that holds my sheet.
4) Adjust the focal length.
5) Choose the place to print by using arrows.
6) Make it the origin point.
7) Click on "Box" to detect the size.
8) Click on "start" to cut.
The design was as shown in the 1st image, but the specified part broke after printing due to its weakness.
It has been manually improved and is now as shown in the 2nd image.
I am very happy with the final result because it's "😂اصعب نضاره فمصر"

The coolest thing I did this week was the bookmark. I learned how to make two pieces, one 3D printed and the other laser cut, and connect them together using a screw. It helped me with this week's task.
On this day I was fasting so we ordered delivery from El-Shabrawy and ate together. It was a wonderful Fabricate day.
