I will show you how i made the most minimal pen/pencil holder you'll ever see and how i overcame this picture i am showing you here
I used laserworks software to prepare my file
the materials was : ply wood
I used malky CNC laser cutter
I used fusion 360 software to prepare my design
I used Cura software to prepare my file
the materials was : PLA fillament
I used prusa mk2
I made the brackets as i learned in tutorials
only that i had to redesign the project to make it 2 compartments
this was the base design
this was the left and right piece design
the faces design (fully defined xd)
the middle piece where i use my bracket
I started extruding the sketches
this was my bracket i designed earlier from the videos
i assembled the pieces and it looked nice
little woody texture to make it realistic
As for laser cutting
Using laserworks I prepared the files to be cut with the laser cutter and I had to fit all parts one sheet but it didn't work so i edited the file on spot and used 2 sheets xddd
used these parameters in cutting
For 3D printing
it was printed with the ears from week 2
i printed the brackets took 1 gram and 10 minutes and used these parameters
As for laser it wasn't hard because ,I learned from the offline sessions how to operate the machine and with the help of the specialist it was cool
i had a problem that i made very small brackets so it was very challenging to assemble them and i broke one before learning that i can use the heat gun to help with assembly but if i learned one thing from my journey in that we don't throw anything if it's working and it seems sturdy and working even after some damage
one of the most important lessons learned that i have to follow the guidelines to pass and don't double work
I learned how to make and use brackets and i will be sure of making better ones next time
it was a very exciting journey full of running from the deadlines and i knew that i had a great teammates that allowed me to cut my editied project with them
i am pretty sure making friends
tell me your opinion
what do you like more?
old vs new
I learned that getting the job done is far more important than making it cool
i learned that simplicity comes in favour when there's no time and i hope in the future that i'll make better work
