Ideation

i will make key chain for my mother since shy always needs something simple to hang her phone easy on it be taken at any where. ;)

i like yin yang shapes types because they are related with a good memories for me.

Tool Chain

Which software/machines/materials did you use in the assignment? Why?

-laser cutting i use laser work.

-3D printing i use cura Ultimaker.

material:

-laser cutting i use plywood material.

-3D printing i use poly lactic acid.

Design/Preparation Process

Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?

LASRE CUT

i upload the "dxf." file which i download from 3axis website. then, i imported the file in the laser work program, rescaled and adjusted just beside the origin.

finnaly, i modified the design based on the power and speed ..

where:

For cutting: speed: 25 mm/sec Power: 55%

For ingraving: speed: 150 mm/sec Power: 20%

For scanning: speed: 250 mm/sec Power: 12%

i download the file at tha machine, set the focus and test the frame work for the machine and give it the order to work.

3D PRINTING

i upload the "3d design" file which i download from " thingiverse" website, then, the files were imported at CURA software, placed as wanted,i modified the design to make sure that the kilograms and the time are suitable by changing the scale and the infill.

layer thickness was selected by 0.15, infill is 50% with support,

also the printing temperature is adjusted on 215 degree.

After that the file had been sliced, giving the final time 1h329min and 8g.

Development/Implementation Process

Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

for 3-d printing :

i check the supports, kilograms and printing time, then i saved the project as .rld file then upload it to the machine, at the machine i replace the felement, clean the nozzle and finally i give it the order to start, and this was the final product.

for laser cutting machine:

start the machine at first, then modify the start spot for the machine.

and finally i gave the order to the machine then i get the final product.

What kinds of challenges or problems did you face while doing the assignment, tutorials, or exercises? How did you solve them? Did you ask for help from an instructor or peer? Please provide a link to the tutorial or article that you used to solve your problem (if any)

we decided to use a scotch tap to protect the model from burning which make the shape not ully cut from the first time so we repeat the cutting process twice before getting the final result.

Final Project

How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?

using laser cutting machine and 3-d printing will be very important at the final project for sure.

how to protect your product at laser cutting machine from burning at speed cut process, we use a tape reel to cover the place where the design is being cut.

and it works the product was very clean at the end of process.
