This week's idea is
a Pencil Holder
it contains two compartments to hold Pens and Papers.
I searched on Google and found the web ( Design Bundles.net ) Link and image are attached.
And I drew it on Fusion
I care because I like this design it's 6 parts.
I can use it in my office and I can engrave my company name on it.
software :
I used Google search to find the Pen Holder design.
Then I used Fusion 360 to make the design and get prepare files :
files (.dxf) - six parts - six files
El Malky Laser software (RDWorks) to make file .rd and download to the laser machine.
Machines :
Laser Cutting Machine :

Materials:
sheet wood material 3m
I chose the above because they are most suitable for making good Pen Holder
I started Create the Pen Holder
Create 2D file in Fusion software
Create six Components
with sketches for six side
The model utilized four T-slot with two tabs
and cross tabs
The parts be assembled using four M3 screws and nuts
Draw a square starting from the origin 80*80mm for every side . the middle side 70*80mm
I drew the back side first, then copied it and paste new And I changed the name of the component to the front
Then I modified it by making a rectangle with fillet angles 10 mm - four corners .
The I create right side, after drawing it, copy it, paste new, and change the name .
As for the middle side, I drew it on its own and added a two tabs on both sides to interlock it on the left and right sides.
As for the floor, I drew it after I made the project for all tabs
Make all designs Fully Defined
I also change the appearance of my model making it : Wood - Pine - like the picture
I set the dimensions of every side I did create to fully defied
The tools I used : Rectangle - line -point - circle - vertical - fillet - joint - Extrude - midpoint - project
The Pen Holder
After Creating the fusion file
I prepared the *DXF file and opened it in RDWorks (El Malky laser software )
and open all parts " six side " and put them side by side together in one file.
I wrote my name on the back side and today's date on the front side
My parameter :
Cut : 30 speed - power 50 to 55 - Black line
Scan : 300 speed - power 20 to 20 - Red line
And simulate cutting
Press the button " SavetoUfile " that makes rd file
then copy and paste into flash memory for use with a laser machine.
Put the wood sheet at the origin of the machine
And press on the frame To check the cut area on the wood sheet
Then close the machine door and press run

Using the screw and nut to connect the parts, according to the attached pictures
Assembling :
One of the most enjoyable moments is holding the product " Pen Holder "
It's took time to switch the installation priority since they are six parts
The order of their installation helps in proper assembly
So I installed three sides, then put the middle part, then the Front part
Finally, the floor was placed in the last piece
Then I put the screws and nuts in the four directions
I faced many challenges today and gained new experiences from them
Laser Cut challenge :
Challenge the Laser Work program - because it changes the dimensions of the design - and it does not work on AlMalky machine.
The Instructor asked to download Al-Maliki program -"RDWorks" and we noticed that the dimensions appeared correct
I did not need to change the dimensions to 10%
and I wrote some words inside it.
Another Challenge when uploading the file to the laser machine, we found on the screen the design was a mirror
So canceled and I went back to ٌRDWorks and flipped the design and the words, so when the file was transferred to the machine again, we found it modified
So I learned when writing words inside the design, the design must be turned like mirrors before cutting.
Fusion Challenge:
My Challenge copying one of the sides in the design, and I found that when changing anything in it, the other changes, even the name of the Component also change - and the solution was from my colleague that copying is followed by a new paste, and this separates them from each other. And done.
The Challenge of the nut was not included when assembling the design - and I knew from the instructor that there are directions for the nut and we make it appear on two sides only in the face.
The final project
I learned everything I needed to make a body for the final project, whether using laser cutting or 3D printing.
The most important thing in laser cutting is the attached picture Because it contains many technologies, including
Tabs - T-slot - cross tabs and the location of the screw and nut - and the engagement of the tabs and the cross
These are the most important elements to connect the parts together.
Using these elements, any shape can be assembled and linked in a good way
The internal components of the project are preserved from circuits and wires.
In addition to changing the colors of the shape .
