For laser cutting
machine : cnc laser cut
materials : mdf wood 3mm
software :- laserwork
For 3D printing
machine : 3D printer prusa i3 mk2
materials : PLA
software :- Ultimaker Cura
software : fusion 360 to design
Glasses arm
sketch
using arc and lines
fillet
screw sketch
final result
extrude
5 mm
glass arm
nut sketch
save as mesh to get stl file
for preparing the design of glasses arm :
I first prepared the idea and prepared its dimensions through the search
I used fusion 360
choose the front to sketch the idea
I started sketch the idea
then using extrude (5mm)
using fillet feature to make the body more smooth (fillet 2.5 mm )
made slot (3.3 mm) for screw and nut
finally saved the file as STL for 3d printer
Glasses body
sketch
using arc
glass body
finall result
using circle
extrude
appearance
save as DXF
for preparing the design of glasses body :
I first prepared the idea and prepared its dimensions through the search
I used fusion 360
choose the front to sketch the idea
I started sketch the idea
then using extrude and extrude cut to make the sketch 3d
made slot (3 mm) for screw
then using appearance to add color to design
finally saved the file as DXF to cut by cnc laser machine
I downloaded the file as .dxf file
I mported the file to the LaserWorks
I Adjust dimensions then Chose the shapes that I want to cut and the areas I want to engrave and
I adjusted the speed and power properties for each layer according to the machine's recommended settings
( cut : speed : 25 , power : 65 )
( scan : speed : 250 , power 25 )
Finally , saved the file as .rdl
I mported the file to the cura
choose the printer and material
I Adjust the rotaion
I adjusted profile , infill
( profile : .2 infill : 1.5 )
try the slice to show the time and weight
( 3gm . 21min )
Finally , saved the file as gcode
Glasses body
I asked the specialist if the parameters' settings are correct or not
downloaded the file from the PC to the laser cutter
put a wood sheet in the machine
placed the origin point
check the focus
choose the file
finally , run it
Glasses arm
I asked the specialist if the settings are correct or not
upload Gcode file to the memory card
insert the memory card to the machine and choose the file and run it
Final Result
While importing file to laser work , There was a problem with the design and open lines Although there is no such problem in fusion 360
TIs problem happened because of using splines
I asked menna and asmaa and they help me to solve this problem
to solve the problem I used arc instead of splines
the previous knowledge and skills I had learned this week will reflect a lot of benefits on the final project, for instance,
drawing the design on fusion 360
running the cnc laser cut machine & 3d printer
The coolest thing is that I lead this process from design to a final product.
using fusion one of the
we are asked to design bookmark , I trayed with my team to do design it using fusion 360
