The assignment idea is to get a 3D design and print it with the 3D print machine. I choose Pokemon Planters. I Edite it using Ultimaker Cura.

The assignment idea is to get a laser-cut design A single-piece model and make it with the laser-cut machine. I choose Monkey Medal.

Which software/machines/materials did you use in the assignment? Why?

The softwares used for this assignment are :

Design/Preparation Process

Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?

3D Printing

Laser Cutting

1- Browse an opensource CAD library (Thingiverse),

and then i choose 3d Model but it must be *.STL format

2- open 3d model on cura - and i change Properties

Scale 56mm/62 mm
infill (10)
resolution (0.3mm)

3- then click on slice to show number of grams and time

(19 gram ) -(1 HOUR 12 Minutes )

4- finally save to disk (extension .gcode)

and then i choose 2d Model but it must be *.DXF format

2- open illustrator to design close shapes around neck monkey to make muffler engrav

Export it .DFx

3- then open laserwork ,import 2d model and change Properties

4- finally download ,The laptop must be connected to a machine

Development/Implementation Process

Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

3D Printing

I began with the 3D printer because it would take the longest to complete. I loaded the .gcode file onto the SD card and began printing. and i waiting machine to heat up

Laser Cutting

I saved the .dfx file on my usb , After that, I inserted the sheet of wood into the laser cutting bed, adjusted the origin and focus, followed the rest of the instructions, and began cutting.

when cutting monkey , I ran into a problem around neck monkey So I had to use illustrator to design close shapes around neck monkey to make muffler engrav

Final Project

How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?

project has a major relationship to the final project because it taught me a lot of skills that I will use when I work on the final project, Such as dealing with the programs of the machines and knowing the formulas in which they work and how to operate the machines

What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?

The most important thing that excited me was the information that I knew about how to cutting with the laser machine, and 3d printing and adjust the settings.

on that week we have Activity to To implement task as a group of three, my group was with khadiga & abdelrahman :

the Activity was:

the first part was to cutting the dog on laser cutting machine and set the speed and the power and make it ready to cut it on the laser machine.

the second part of the task was to make a dinosaur and set the layer height, position, infill and if needs any support , the model needs just a touching build plate support.
