Final Project Journal

Project Ideation

1- Tell us about the idea of your project. Why do you care about this? What were you inspired by? Include images and videos of similar projects

psionic fingers for those who suffered from losing one of their fingers

Project Construction

2- Explain the CAD process of your project. How did you use the software to design your project? (List the softwares/tools/materials...etc that you used)

By using fusion I designed index3 , majeure3 , ringfinger3, auriculaire3 ,wrist

Hand rest...

I take some support parts on my design(rest of the hand) from

Thingivers :Parts of the hand .STL

Then insert it as mesh in fusion

and convert it to solid part as component

look this video

convert STL to editable solid part

Then take dimensions after making drowning from solid part

look this video to know how

Fingers ..

I did same think to have a solid body to take the dimension of 6 parts of one finger

then I change scale for other3 finger

and take 5th finger from thingivers

How I take dimension from standard design

Then I sketch them

2022-04-02 16-19-48.mkv

And then I deduced and painted those

2022-03-31 22-12-56.mkv
2022-03-31 21-48-37.mkv
2022-04-02 19-53-51.mkv

3- Explain the fabrication process of your project. How did you use the machine to fabricate your project? (List the softwares/tools/materials...etc that you used)

Arduino uno and hand holder

After exporting already nested DXF files from Fusion 360, It is time for Laserworks.

DXFs are imported in Laserworks , setting proper speed and power for cutting and scanning.

Project Electronics & Power Management

4- Describe your electronic circuit. What are the input and action components? What is the function of each? How do the components integrate together to form your smart system? (List the softwares/tools/components...etc that you used)

  • Detect finger(index3) movement--> Input sensor is flex sensor it can sense the value of bending angle by volage divider low and send these value with mapping with servo angle to slave (Arduino uno)

  • Bionic finger moving --> servo rotate with the value witch received from maser (Arduino nano)

5- What is your power source? How did you select the suitable power source for your project? (List the softwares/tools/components...etc that you used)

9 volt battery and 5v regulator

Project Programming

6- Describe the code of your project. How did you program each function of the project?

Code function:

  • Master receive value of bending angel from flex sensor and send it to slave

  • Slave mappings the value from flex sensor with servo angel

Project Integration & Testing

7- Demonstrate with text and visuals how did you integrate the project’s modules together? What are the testing results? (Include a Demo video separately, showing a proof of functionality)

Sharing & Collaboration

8- Did you ask for feedback? What are the ideas that others have contributed or suggested? What was someone else’s idea that you built upon? How did you help your peers? How did your peers help you?

My instructor Ahmed Abdelnaser advise to make the other parts of hand as support to the finger instead of box

Overcoming Challenges

9- When you got stuck, what/who did you turn to? At what point did you have to pause to research or learn more before moving on? What are some mistakes, pitfalls, or challenges that others can avoid if they were doing this project?

Some unsuitable dimeters it make parts of finger not fit together

but I treat it by whipped up this part by cutter and sand pepper .

Future Work

10- If you had more time, what is one thing you would change/ Do next in your project?

Using EMG sensor to be more near to really bionic hand
