I got inspired by the fidget object we made in the week.
I also wanted to make another function in the pen holder so I added a part to hold the notes so that I can have the notes and pen ready to use.
Fusion 360
First thing that we need i making this assignment is the software.
we used Fusion 360 for the designing process, because it's a free program that is easy to use and has all the features we need in our designs.
Ultimaker cura is the program we use to slice the models before sending to the machine and set the parameters for printing.
And ofcourse the 3D Printer
After I'm done with the designing process I need to send the files to the 3D printer to implement my design.
Also the pla plastic that is going to be melted and used to fabricate the model.
When I settled on the idea (after the many trials I made XD), I began drawing the sketches

Joint sketch
Pen ball joint after revolve
Base and joint after extrude and revolve
Assembly and setting the joints
After drawing the sketches I applied the features; revolve for the ball joint pen holder, extrude for the base, revolve for the ball joint holder in the base, the extrude cut for the notes and finally the chamfering for the edges.
Then finally I changed the material to abs plastic and changed the color to white.

To edit and print the model we must convert it first to stl to be able to edit the parameter on ultimaker cura and send the code to the machine.
I converted to stl by clicking file -> 3D print (demonstrated in the picture on the left)
Then a small window appeared (demonstrated in the picture on the right), I then selected the body I want to convert and unchecked the "send to 3D print utility) and then pressed ok.
After finishing the design on fusion 360 and converting the file to stl by clicking on file -> 3D design -> convert to stl as mentioned above, I opened the file on ultimaker cura to start slicing the model and set the parameters for printing.
setting the parameters for printing
preview to see the infill
After last edit before printing
I went to choose the file from the sd card (photo from previous week)
then I chose my file
(photo from previous week)
Beginning to print
Tracking the frame and starting to print
First two layers
First layer of gyroid infill
The infill after few layers
Final product
Ball joint is working! Yaaay!
Before i print i consulted the lab specialist and the time was exceeding the limit when using the 0.3 layer, so he advised me to change the infillinfill pattern and volume to reduce the time, i later discovered after printing and after it broke that in the small sections i need a good infill so that it doesn't break.
I had many designs That I wanted to make and fabricate, and i found this one already online and wanted to make a similar design but when I tested it it was consuming alot of material and will take alot of time in printing so I switched to a simpler design.
After I printed I found out that the infill wasn't strong enough at the neck and omar the lab specialist advised me to put super glue on it carefully so that it doesn't break, I didn't have enough time so i left the lab before putting the glue and it broke off.
I will try to fix it next time I'm in the lab and update this section.

In my Clothes Folding Machine Project I'll need Fusion 360 to design the motor holders that are going to be 3D printed and the gears to make the motors give more force.
My backup project which is "controlling the room light with arduino" also needs switches that are going to be 3D printed
In the hands on minds on activity I was inspired from this pencil holder on alibaba: shorturl.at/jIKTZ
and I modeled it in fusion 360 and tried to ssearch for how to make that cut shape to be like the picture and found out that it is done using loft cut, and made parallel planes and sketched on them and then used the loft tool.
The model I made turned out to be very large and I decided to change the design instead of scalling it down because i wasn't satisfied of the result and to learn more.
