In the minds on hands on of this week we were required to search for a design and make a phone holder out of card board.
I made 3 designs out of cardboard and wanted to fabricate one of them.
My inspiration was from pintrist and the diy projects online as there are many of them but I chose a very simple one that only consists of two parءts.
Fusion 360
First thing that we need i making this assignment is the software.
we used Fusion 360 for the designing process, because it's a free program that is easy to use and has all the features we need in our designs.
Laserwork software, a program we use to modefy the design to send to the machine.
So that after i finish my design i convert the sketches to .dxf format and put them in one file to send to the laser cutter.
And ofcourse the laser cutter.
After I'm done with the designing process I'll need to send the files to the laser cutter to implement my design.
Using Fusion 360 wasn't hard for me because i'm used to solidworks, i also choose a very simple design that consists of just 2 parts fastened with 2 screws.

then i made new sketches and projected the sketch i wanted to turn to dxf and sent it to laser works
After adjusting the file on laserwork and adding the shape of the snow flakes and setting the parameters of the cutting i sent it to the machine.

First I pressed the file button and choose from memory files
choose my file (its name was mariam)

I wanted to make another design and i hade some dificulty in modifying and making the sketch, but the deadline was close so someone in the lab advised me to go with the original design and maybe make this One later.
For the mobile holder I had many designs on mind and when i searched i found even more designs that I was interested in, but the most interesting one i found and wanted to make was that one in the picture, the onlu problem was that i did'nt know what I was supposed to do to make the wood maliable and can bend in that shape.
I found this tutorial that explains it:

but unfortunately i didn't have enough time to make the design and try it out but I'm planning to.

My Clothes Folding Machine Project mainly depends on the laser cutter, So, I'll need Fusion 360 to be able to reach the design I desire with the features of my choice.
My backup project which is "controlling the room light with arduino" also needs a specific design for a box that can open from one side for the actuator to work and has a switch and screen on another side.
In this week's "End Of Week session" we had a task to make a chair, my team and i had some challenges in drawing the side but we managed to overcome them together with the help of "Nada" -A4 instructor- and then in the fabrication part I had an idea to stack the components of the chair in a way that wouldn't waste alot of wood when we put the file o the laser cutter, So, in the presentation and before I say anything Ahmed abdelfattah said that this move was cool and then my amazing team said some very nice things about our team work and that was the coolest thing that happened to me this week and it really made my day. <3
