My assignment's idea is a mobile holder + box to store chargers, earphones and other wires.
I got my inspiration from the kit we assembled in the first day + the chair we made in the the third session in week 2.
I am using Fusion 360 to sketch the mobile holder parts and I using it since it is user friendly and have simple interface.
I will use laserwork to set proper setting for the laser machine and use 3MM plywood.
More details about tools explained in week1
I started by drawing the design on cardboard with all dimensions to imagine how it will look like then I open fusion and started to drawing the front since it is the main part and has all the hard work.
I started a new sketch, draw rectangle from center point with the dimensions then started to add tabs and circles.
I draw only one side then I mirrored using construction line in the middle.
I followed the same process for the sides and back.
I transferred the .rld file to machine's computer.
Added the wood sheet.
From the machine control button I chose file, memory files then I searched for my file I chose it.
Chose track frame to make sure that the sheet is set correctly and on the right place.
I chose run after that and then the magic happened :D
I showed Nada (My group instructor) my drawing with the dimensions and she suggested that I move on of the tab a little bit to avoid any issues.
She kept following up with me and asking to send photos and tell me what to do.
Idea of uploading the design as 3D to sketchfab in order to insert it in the documentation was Nada's idea and she kept reminding me to do it, she told me it will be very cool, help people see your work and I did it :D.
She was correct, it is very cool and looked very nice in the documentation.
Since it is the first time for the me to design something I forgot to take the mobile weight into consideration and what happened is when I assembled the holder and but the mobile the mobile was heavy and fall off the holder.
Also, added nuts in the base of the box nd that cause imbalance, Noha (Fab specialist) provided me 3m screws with no head instead of normal 3m screws and it perfectly fitted in place
I uploaded the 3d model to sketchfab website but I got stuck when I needed to attach the 3d model to my website like the diploma site in week 3.
I went to my friend Google and asked him hey Google, I want to insert 3d sketchfab into my google sites, may you lease help me with that?
He said: sure and recommended me this Youtube video.
I got stuck with sketching my idea since this is the first time for me to do such thing.
I have idea in my mind but every time I try to draw I can't do this.
I wrote a post on the community troubleshooting channel and only 5 minutes passed and I received 2 detailed replies that helped me.
Michael suggested that I use the cardboard to make the shape with real dimensions and this worked with me :D
Turing ideas into object with dimensions means a lot for as I have some ideas come to my mind and I can't express.
My project is one of those Ideas and I will use what I am learning to turn my idea into something I can print and see.
The coolest thing in this week's was the EoW session exercise (creating chair from scratch) in cooperation with my team Thomas Medhat and Mohsen Ibrahim.
For someone uses such program and even draw for the first time it was very hard for me to remember all the tools and decide which tool to use to sketch and when.
With the help of my team we managed to finish and cut the chair and I got used to the program and the tools.
This also helped me in my week's assignment.
