This week's assignment was to use Fusion 360 CAD software, to design a mobile holder.
Then we Laser cut this model.
I'm a huge fan of "The Office". This show has changed my life. The way I see things, the way I live. This show was there for me when I needed it the most. One of the best cinematic/artistic creations by men. This show teaches you love, compassion, and finding beauty in simple things in life. Story of a small paper supply company in a small town, yet took the world by storm.
Dwight.k Shrute is one of the best characters in this show. He is my favorite. So I wanted my mobile holder to be a Shrute property.

The software used for the assignment is Fusion360 and RdWorks.
The machines used for this assignment are Malky ML1930 (laser cutter)

Started with sketching on Fusion
I used the sketching tools "Lines, constraints, mirroring, and trimming"
The design wasn't complicated so I finished it easily.
then I "extruded" the sketches.
I modeled the pattern, to visualize how it's gonna be nicely engraved.
Adding joints feature in Fusion helped me a lot with visualizing the final outcome.
After everything fit together properly and the proportions were okay.
I exported each sketch as a DXF file to import it in Rdwork .rd format.
I edited it the way I wanted.
And now it's ready to be cut.
I went to the lab to fabricate the mobile holder
with the parameters:
For scan: speed 350, power 20
For cut: speed 10, power 60
I moved files from my computer to USB.
then turned the machine on.
I made sure that the wood used for fabrication is enough.
I run the file, then I got the two pieces.
I assembled them using screws.
I added some colors when I got home.
I had a problem modeling the anther holder in case this one didn't work. So I asked Ahmed during Sunday's session, and he discussed with me different solutions that made me able to 3D model it easily.
The problem was that I didn't know how to connect the triangular part and the rectangular one together using wood.
"Living hinge" was an option, "Sheet metal" too.
but the best one for me wat to make a 6 mm tab that goes through both parts from both sides.
I learned how to use Fusion 360 ,a new software. I believe it will help me, 3d model my final project .
The coolest thing was 3d modeling using Fusion 360.
I made some cool stuff using it.
We made this cutte chair in the hands-on activity of this week.
I teamed up with Yara and Ahmed to design it and laser cut it.
