I decided to get some new habits like time management and minimalism so I need motivation. But what kind of it ?! Anything that reminds me of the importance of time will do the job.

I know that my partner loves violin so I decided to give him a tiny violin gift.

Machines:
Laser cutting machine: Malky Laser cutting ML64 Technical Specs: Working Area: 400mm x 600mm, Laser Power: 60 Watt,Max moving speed: 500mm/s
I used it to cut and engrave the clock
Softwares:
LaserCAD software :according to buildyourcnc website: LaserCAD is 'The software that allows communication between the computer and the laser cutter controller, but it also allows you to draw geometry, add text and images and download that file to the laser cutter controller. ' resource of informaton Here
I used it to prepare the ready DXF file
Materials:
MDF wood: according to Wikipedia : 'Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibres, often in a defibrator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming it into panels by applying high temperature and pressure ' it is suitable material for laser cutting.
Open source inspiration:
3axis.co : open source for DXF ready files used for laser cutting projects.
I used it for inspiration and browsing for 2d objects
Machines:
3D Printer:
Technical Specs: Build volume: 250mm wide, 210mm deep and 200 mm tall ,Layer height: 0.05 – 0.35 mm, Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm, and Max hotend/heatbed temp.: 300 °C / 110 °C
I used it to make a 3d violin object
Softwares:
Ultimaker Cura : according to Wikipedia : 'Cura is an open source slicing application for 3D printers. It was created by David Braam who was later employed by Ultimaker, a 3D printer manufacturing company, to maintain the software. Cura is available under LGPLv3 license. Cura was initially released under the open source Affero General Public License version 3, but on 28 September 2017 the license was changed to LGPLv3.This change allowed for more integration with third-party CAD applications.Development is hosted on GitHub. Ultimaker Cura is used by over one million users worldwide and handles 1.4 million print jobs per week. It is the preferred 3D printing software for Ultimaker 3D printers, but it can be used with other printers as well. '
I used it to calculate the time of amountof material used and to slice the model virtually
Materials:
PLA: 'PLA is a very common material used in 3d printing because of loose temperature requirements during extrusion' according to Future Electronics Egypt
Open source inspiration:
Thingiverse : According to Wikipedia 'Thingiverse is a website dedicated to the sharing of user-created digital design files. Providing primarily free, open-source hardware designs licensed under the GNU General Public License or Creative Commons licenses, the site allows contributors to select a user license type for the designs that they share. 3D printers, laser cutters, milling machines and many other technologies can be used to physically create the files shared by the users on Thingiverse.Thingiverse is widely used in the DIY technology and Maker communities, by the RepRap Project and by 3D printer and MakerBot operators. Numerous technical projects use Thingiverse as a repository for shared innovation and dissemination of source materials to the public. Many of the object files are intended for the purposes of repair, decoration or organization.'

Regarding to Laser cutting approach
I browsed an open source CAD library 3axis.co clock DXF file link, picked a single-piece 2D clock model, and downloaded it in a *.DXF format for the purpose of Laser Cutting.
I edited the file on LaserCAD software for proper settings for cutting (speed 15, power 75 ) and engraving ( speed 300 power 50 )
I saved the file in a proper format (*.plt)
Regarding to 3D Printing approach
I browsed an open-source CAD library (Thingiverse), pick a single-piece tiny violin 3D model, and downloaded it in an *.STL format for the purpose of 3D printing.
STL file link
I used Ultimaker Cura Software to prepare the model ( infill 20%- no support- adjustments on length - Extra Fast 0.3mm Layer height)
I exported the *.gcode of the model and took a screenshot including the weight and time estimated for the printing process
The clock :
I adjusted the placement of the MDF sheet and turned the machine on.
Clicked on origin then box to ensure the working area then I clicked start.
The violin
I turned the printer on, selected the file, and made preheat order.
I made sure that the filament color was clear
printing was started
Laser Cutting Machine can't read the drawings of (5, 6, a, n& d) and It affects the End Result.
With help of the specialist, we decided to replace them with (I).
Tiny violin printed by 3D printer & Clock component fabricated using laser cutting machine
I learnt how to use open source libraries for 2d and 3d objects, I also learnt how to prepare files and use the softwareneeded for either laser cutting or 3d printing
I used the machines.
These skills will help me in building the construction parts of final project
