The assignment idea is to design and fabricate a mobile phone holder.
My inspiration came from many websites like 3axis.co, thingiverse ,and yotube.
Videos like:
I used Autodesk Fusion 360 to sketch the design and then assemble the parts together to check if there is a problem and solve it.
After finishing the design, I used LaserCAD V8.10 software to prepare the pwj5 file that will be sent to the Laser Cutting machine.
The Laser Cutter machine "Malky ML64 CO2" will be used to cut these parts.

Fusion 360
The material will be a 3 mm wood sheet.
There will be M3 screws and nuts to assemble the holder using the T-slots.
I started to design the sketches of each part on Fusion, did a fully qualified design.
Then I extruded the sketch to be 2.5D.
Added joints to assemble the parts and make sure it fits well.
Exported the sketches to DXF files to be prepared and used on the laser machine software (LaserCAD).
The 2D sketches
I imported all the parts after saving them as DXF files.
I Removed the construction lines
Duplicated the needed parts which was the side.
I minimized the space to lower the material wast.
I added my favorite quote "Perfect as Usual" and rotate it.
In black color, speed is 15 and power is 85
In red color, speed is 200 and power 25
I Saved the file in .PWJ5 format and sent it the machine.
I downloaded the PWJ5 file to the Laser Cutter computer.
I did the following steps:
Set the origin.
Made a box to check that it will cut on the sheet
I checked the focus
I used the screws and nuts to assemble the parts
This week was extra hard for me.
Unfortunately, I designed the task again in order to many errors which I will discuss:
The slots did not fit very well cause I did not notice them in the assembly but found them in the manufacturing.
The slots were not enough so the box was not closed but the fab lab specialist advised me to add more in the next design.
The construction lines were not removed in laserCAD so the fab lab specialist advised me to remove it from Fusion 360, and export to DXF again.(That converted the file to be not fully defined).
Leakage of T-slots
The final project
Using Fusion 360 will be very helpful in designing the final project.
Also, T-slots will be the technique I will use to make joints in the final project
I realized the importance of checking the realism of your dimension by applying it through prototyping.
We can say that I have to check every single detail cause one millimeter can make a lot!
