Week 3 - Journal
Ideation
Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What inspired you? (Please include images or links to sources of inspiration)
The assignment for this week is to Design a model of a pen and pencil holder that may rest on a flat surface (Table Top).
Inspiration
Yes, bacteriophage can also be a pencil holder With a 3D printer, you can do almost anything.
Tool Chain
Which software/machines/materials did you use in the assignment? Why?

Design/Preparation Process
Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?
Implementation process
Try to calculate the proportions of length, width, and height distances for the 3D bacteriophage model by calculating the distance between the pixels.
Choose the minimum dimensions of the holder which make the pencils stable.
calculate the other dimensions Based on the proportions measured.
divide the body into subcomponents then set the design plan for fusion 360.
5. Sketch the first component (Base) then extrude it using revolve tool.
6. Sketch the medium polygram shape and extrude it using loft tool.
7. Sketch triangles of the main holder then extrude it using the circular pattern and loft tools.
8. Sketch one leg in 3d sketching mode then extrude it with the loft tool and finally create five legs of it using pattern circular.
9. change appearance then extract the design as an STL file then open it using Ultimaker Cura to adjust the supports and the holder size before printing.
10. After achieving the required conditions for printing, such as the number of grams and the time required to print the model, extract the model as a gcode file.
The model needs 1 hour, 22 minutes and 19 grams.
The model needs no adhesion or supports.
Value of layer height is 0.3 and 0.20 for infill.
Development/Implementation Process
Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?
Steps to be ready for printing :
1- After transferring the file from the device to the 3D printer via an SD card.
2- Turn on the 3D printer.
3- Select load from sd card.
4-choose my G-code file.
5- Make sure that all things work well.
6- Wait beside the 3d printer until finishing printing.
Overcoming Challenges
What kinds of challenges or problems did you face while doing the assignment, tutorials, or exercises? How did you solve them? Did you ask for help from an instructor or peer? Please provide a link to the tutorial or article that you used to solve your problem (if any)
I faced a problem with the design of this part of the holder, so I searched on YouTube for a solution and found a simple tutorial explaining this part here.
Then I applied it like the video and it worked well.
The solution here is to sketch a triangle then extrude it then use a circular pattern tool to make it like the image here.
Final Project
How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?
Now I have the ability to utilize Fusion 360's 3D features and sub-features to create 3D objects.
Manage 3D components in Fusion 360 and perform different types of joints.
WOW!
What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?
I consider it the coolest thing not for its looks, of course, but because it gave me a good experience of how to use fusion 360 tools which are well suited for design.
