This week's assignment is to make our own design of a simple mobile holder on Fusion 360 software and prepare it for laser cutting.
Inspiration:
I saw a design phone holder on a Pinterest and I liked it so I decided to make one of the designs and have a design on it that I love
Software
RDworks,
is a program used for producing (.rd) files that regulate laser cutting operations. It opens (.dxf) files.
Fusion 360
is a collaborative cloud-enabled 3D CAD, CAM, CAE.
Machines
Laser Cuttre ( ML1390 )
Materials
Plywood sheet ( 3mm thick )
Step one.
I started taking the dimensions of the mobile to know the dimensions of the stand. I started by drawing a rectangle of 150 mm by 90 mm and I drew taps and T- a slot until the front shape is installed with the sides and the other front part on which the phone will be installed. Then I downloaded a cartoon shape from the website 3axia, I entered the program in Dxf format and placed it in the middle of the design. I made a circle from the bottom to pass the shipment through it and put all the dimensions and relationships until the shape became fully defined.
Step 2
Side-sketch then I started drawing the sides on which the stand will stand and I drew the tabs and the T_slot that will be attached to the front side
Step 3
Base -sketch I drew the base, which is a rectangle with tabs and a t slot added to install with the rest of the parts.
Step 4
Front -sketch
Step 5
I collected the parts on fusion 360
Different images showing the design
After finishing my design I export all sketches in Dxf files and import them in laser works.
Laser cutting processing
1- I entered the dxf file on the program (LaserWorkV6 )
2-I Put the file on the starting point of the machine and modify the cutting settings ( speed and power )
3- I Save the file in ( rld) format
Cutting settings
cut
color : black speed : 25 mm/s power : 30 %
cut
color : red speed : 250 mm/s power : 30 %
cut
color : blue speed : 350 mm/s power : 20 %
I click on download to send it to the machine.
After this I used the arrows) to determine the origin and set it, then check the frame of work is in on the used wood.
then click starts to start cutting.
After this, I connect all parts together using a t slot connection and Screw Joints.
Final model
I had a problem when I inserted dxf files on laserwork
When I was entering the file, strange and intrusive lines appeared, and when I erased them, they erased from the main lines in the sketch, but the lecturer, Menna, said the solution is that I separate the lines from the nearest point and erase them
I faced a problem when assembling the stand, as when I put the phone on the stand, I was not getting balance, so I redesigned the sides to get balance.
First design
Modified design
One of the skills I gained this week is how to Use fusion 360 and I learned all connection of wood to attach all parts with each other to create 2.5D object and that I will use in my final project
In the lecture of the week, we divided teams, drew the parts of the chair, and cut it with a laser machine.
