Inspiration
The idea for this week is a Phone Stand made with laser cutting machine.
I don't like bulky designs, so i found this design very appealing to me while looking for one.
Design & Nesting: Fusion 360.
Laser Cutting Preparation: LaserCAD.
Machine: Malky ML64 CO2 Laser Cutter.
Material: Wood.
Design and Preparation Steps:
Searching for a design or a picture of a design.
Measured my Phone dimensions as a guide to dimension my design properly "165x80x10".
Created the design using Fusion 360.
Started with a 2D Sketch of the Different Parts According to my Phone "H=106mm, Depth=100mm, Width=62mm" .
Then Extrude the Sketch with the thickness of wood sheet "t=3mm".
Assemble the Parts to Get my Product.
Assembled it in Fusion 360 to be sure about my dimension and assembly.
Nested my design using Fusion 360 (Found it easier than nesting using LaserCAD).
Saved the design as DXF.
Imported it into LaserCAD and applied cutting parameters.
Download it to a laser cutting machine.
Start Cutting.......
Nesting my 2D sketches in Fusion 360 separate sketch.
Save the nested sketch as DXF.
Import DXF into LaserCAD.
Apply cutting parameters.
Download design to machine.
Place wood sheet in the cutting area.
Set the origin of the machine.
Check cutting area using "Box" feature in the machine.
Check focus of laser beam.
Start Cutting...
Nesting using LaserCAD is a little hard so I nested my design in a separate sketch in Fusion 360 and saved it as DXF.
