My ideas for the assignment in this week are 2 designs. One of them that is called "Android smartphone holder" is 3D shape that will be printed on the 3D printer. The other one that is called "Batman Logo Clock" is 2D shape that will be cut on the laser cutter.
Batman Logo Clock
I searched on a lot of websites like Instructables, Thingiverse and GrabCad, and found that this clock is very beautiful because I love Batman.
Android smartphone holder
I searched for the most suitable thing that I love, I love the android icon, so I picked this beautiful shape that is a mobile holder.

I downloaded the design from thingiverse.com. I used Ultimaker Cura software to import my design then I adjusted the settings of the design to make the best suitable design. I made the infill = 20 and quality = 0.22. It took 1:28 h in printing.
I used the laser cutting machine for cutting this beauty shape (Batman Clock). Firstly, I downloaded the DXF file to the laptop that connect with the machine, then I checked the focus to define the origin point, and then I pressed on the start button, and finally the shape is created.
I used the 3d machine (PRUSA i3 MK2 ) for making this shape. Firstly I downloaded the gcode into the SD card and put it into the machine, then I modified the temperature to the suitable degree. then I started the printing and it takes 1:28 h in printing.

During adjusting the focus, The ply wood sheet was curved so I guessed the focus won't be good so the cutting won't be accurate, but Sarah (The specialist in the lab) told me that in this case, we should wait until cutting the shape then if there are parts not cut, without removing the sheet from below the laser cutting, You just check and if the cutting not work, repeat it again, and yes this way is very smart to repeat in the same parts.

I can use what I learn from 3D & 2D Printers To help me design the package of the final project. and how to make the right editing in the settings at the design to fit my project whether it is a laser cutter or a 3d printer.
In the laser cutting, I learned that there are variety in burning by increasing the power, max power=70 that will cut the wood, and the importance of using variety power in complex shapes like super mario.
I learned how to adjust the settings of 3d design in ultimaker cura, and when i should choose support or not. I learned the difference between Grid, Zig Zag, Lightning, ....etc in infill pattern.
I created a prototype for the mobile holder using a cardboard. It's a simple design but I'm ready to do another one using the laser cutter with the wood, I'm really excited to do it...
